Julie Nichols Matthews

Julie Nichols Matthews is an accomplished attorney and trusted business advisor with experience in strategic intellectual property counseling, business transactions, and marketing and advertising compliance. Ms. Matthews advises clients in a range of industries, including consumer products, technology, manufacturing, food and beverage, travel, media and entertainment, and agribusiness.

For over 20 years Ms. Matthews has represented clients on intellectual property protection matters and business disputes involving trademarks, copyrights, trade secrets, patents, rights of publicity, privacy, false advertising, domain names and unfair competition. 

Ms. Matthews advises clients on the selection, clearance and registration of new brands, handles oppositions and cancellations in the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board and manages global trademark and IP portfolios. She regularly counsels on copyright issues, website and advertising compliance, social media best practices, product labeling and packaging issues, website Terms of Use and Privacy Policies and consumer protection laws and regulations. 

Ms. Matthews also handles IP due diligence matters for transactions and drafts commercial agreements such as assignments, licenses, distribution agreements, consulting agreements, non-disclosure agreements, merchandising agreements, publicity releases, purchase and sale agreements. 

Ms. Matthews was recognized by World Trademark Review in 2015 as a leading practitioner in the trademark field.
