Professional Development

We take steps to ensure a lawyer’s education does not end upon graduation. We provide our attorneys with tools for success through a series of training modules designed specifically for summer associates, associates and partners. Our curriculum of instruction complements law-school education by providing the skills needed for long-term career advancement.

Lathrop 101 Seminar Series
This series of programs is designed to help new attorneys. In addition to learning about the day-to-day mechanics of the legal practice, these programs offer interactive sessions to teach fundamental lawyering skills. Program topics include time keeping, teamwork, negotiation, ethics and client service.

Lathrop 501 Seminar Series
This program is designed for our fifth-year associates and provides associates with skills essential toward the achievement of partnership. We discuss a number of important issues specific to this juncture in professional development, including leadership and firm economics.

Lathrop 701 Seminar Series
This program is offered to new partners of the firm. It continues to build on the success skills needed for partners by focusing on business development techniques and the importance of building client relationships.
