Lathrop GPM Partner Ann Burns Awarded Minnesota ICON Award

12/14/2023

MINNEAPOLIS (December 14, 2023) — Lathrop GPM LLP is pleased to announce that Ann Burns, a partner in the firm’s Minneapolis office, has been named a 2023 Minnesota ICON by Minnesota Lawyer and Finance & Commerce.

The Minnesota ICON Awards recognize individuals who have made lasting impacts on Minnesota’s business and legal communities. These honorees have had lengthy and accomplished careers and are already using their experiences to mentor the next generation. This year’s class includes 12 honorees.

"Giving back to younger attorneys and to the community in which I live and work has remained a priority throughout my career," said Burns. "I wouldn’t be where I am today without the people who mentored me. I hope I can give back even a fraction of what they gave me."

Burns’ practice focuses on assisting business owners and families in matters pertaining to estate and charitable gift planning, business succession planning, estate and trust administration, and fiduciary and tax litigation. In recognition of her knowledge in the field, Ann was elected President of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel (ACTEC), for which she has served as a regent since 2013. Ann is also a past practice group chair at the firm.

Outside her legal practice, Ann served as a member of the board of trustees for The Minneapolis Foundation, where she provided oversight and guidance for the foundation’s efforts to promote education, economic development, and civic engagement in the Minneapolis community.
