Tedrick A. Housh, III

Mr. Housh has an extensive employment litigation practice. He handles all types of workplace matters, from wage-and-hour and overtime class actions to individual discrimination and leave disputes. He frequently litigates covenants not to compete and matters involving the use and misuse of trade secret data, requiring a special emphasis on electronic discovery and related issues. He also deals with severance negotiations and employee benefits disputes.

Mr. Housh spends much time counseling business clients on personnel issues. He negotiates collective bargaining agreements, and provides guidance on their construction and application. He helps clients draft employee handbooks and policies.  He manages internal investigations of allegations of discrimination and hostile work environments and advises on a myriad of other work-related issues.

A growing share of his practice is devoted to e-commerce and privacy.  The International Association of Privacy Professionals has designated Mr. Housh a Certified Information Privacy Professional / United States (CIPP/US).  As Vice Chair of the Data Privacy and Digital Protection practice group, Mr. Housh serves as a leader of the firm’s work on data privacy, website terms of service, data security and data breach issues.  He assists clients with the technological, logistical and legal issues arising from the loss or disposal of personally identifiable information and patient health information.

Mr. Housh handles procurement issues and protests for clients utilizing Small Business Administration programs such as HUBZone (Historically Underutilized Business Zones), WOSB (women-owned) and SDVOSB (service-disabled veteran-owned) for contracts with the Department of Defense, Department of Agriculture, Veterans Administration and other agencies.

He also has broad experience in general commercial litigation.  In addition to state and federal cases, he has litigated disputes before the National Association of Securities Dealers, National Credit Union Administration Board and the Office of Special Counsel of the United States government. He has both bench and jury trial experience in the state and federal courts and has argued appeals before the Missouri Court of Appeals, the Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals and the Kansas Supreme Court.

He is a frequent presenter on employment and privacy topics, including the impact of social media on the law and the workplace.
