R. Cameron Garrison

Mr. Garrison is an intellectual property attorney whose practice focuses on defending clients’ rights through litigation and alternative dispute resolution, as well as counseling clients on a wide variety of intellectual property and technology issues. He has successfully first chaired patent, trademark, copyright and trade secret litigations in various federal and state courts throughout the nation, as well as both domestic and international arbitration forums. His business counseling practice has included assisting a wide range of intellectual property, manufacturing, entertainment, internet, marketing and media clients on diverse matters such as identification and valuation of intellectual property portfolios, licensing of intellectual property, resolution of domain name disputes, trademark and copyright prosecution, risk management, noninfringement opinions, and technological and operational issues.

Significant Accomplishments

  • Led successful prosecution of trademark infringement and dilution claims in dispute over rights to 14 federal trademark registrations, resulting in temporary restraining order, preliminary injunction and permanent injunction against defendant and recovery of all rights asserted by our client. 
  • Led successful defense of high stakes patent infringement claim, obtaining key rulings that resulted in extremely favorable settlement for our client.
  • Second chaired successful defense of complex patent, trademark, unfair competition and antitrust case in the Middle District of Florida including “bet the company” injunction proceeding. 
  • Second chaired successful defense of potential nine-figure patent case in the District of New Hampshire against prominent national IP firm resulting in multiple favorable Markman rulings and ultimately summary judgment on all claims.
  • Multiple multi-week jury trials on wide range of IP issues.
  • Led multiple successful UDRP and Anticybersquatting Consumer Protection Act actions recovering infringing domain names from bad faith users. 
  • Led successful declaratory judgment action resulting in opposing party, whose federally registered trademark has been in use for over 80 years, agreeing to a Co-existence Agreement allowing our client to continue use of its 8-year-old mark. 
  • Second chaired successful defense of misappropriation of likeness claim in Texas state court against prominent plaintiff's firm.
