Lathrop Gage attorney Richard Rhyne (Business Litigation - Kansas City) was elected President of the Committee for County Progress (CCP) last Wednesday at the organization's annual meeting. He will serve a one-year term at the head of the organization that serves as the reform and restructure Jackson County government for the Democratic Party.
Voted alongside Mr. Rhyne were Tamara Morris as Vice President, Willie J. Epps, Jr. as Secretary, and Jim Giles as Treasurer. The following members of the Executive Committee were also elected.

David V. Kenner
“I am excited for the year ahead for CCP, and for what I and my colleagues will be able to accomplish during my presidency,” said Richard Rhyne, who last year represented Margaret Donnelly in her bid for Missouri Attorney General and the ensuing recount of that election. “Lathrop Gage has produced three U.S. Congress members, three state governors, five mayors and five state bar presidents. I am very pleased that my presidency will be the latest chapter in the firm’s commitment to good government.”
Mr. Rhyne has over 30 years of experience in successfully representing construction contractors, insurance and surety bond companies, and other corporate clients in multi-million dollar construction cases as well as in general litigation and commercial law matters. Mr. Rhyne has also participated in hundreds of arbitrations and mediations of construction disputes in a wide range of cases including several international disputes. Founded in 1964, the CCP recruits, screens and supports progressive candidates for county and state offices and takes a leadership role in promoting needed public improvement issues.
