Richard Rhyne Leads Committee for County Progress in Redistricting Resolution
As president of the Committee for County Progress (CCP), Lathrop Gage attorney Richard Rhyne (Business Litigation - Kansas City) has been part of organizational leadership that has coordinated a resolution related to redistricting in Jackson County, Missouri. CCP's stated goal is the dedication to progressive ideas and good government for Jackson County.
The resolution states: "The Committee for County Progress, as an organization concerned with good government for all citizens of Jackson County, urges the City Council Members who represent any portion of Kansas City in Jackson County, to prevent the disenfranchisement of Jackson Countians and to ensure those citizens are equitably represented in any redistricting of the City Council Districts. This should include proportional representation on any Citizens Advisory Group addressing redistricting.
"Given the importance of this issue to the citizens of Kansas City, the CCP urges that any redistricting should be done after the City elections in 2011 to ensure that accurate information, including the 2010 consensus final data, is available, and that full discussion and deliberation can occur."
As an attorney, Mr. Rhyne has over 30 years of experience in successfully representing construction contractors, insurance and surety bond companies, and other corporate clients in multi-million dollar construction cases as well as in general litigation and commercial law matters. Mr. Rhyne has also participated in hundreds of arbitrations and mediations of construction disputes in a wide range of cases including several international disputes.
Founded in 1964, the CCP recruits, screens and supports progressive candidates for county and state offices and takes a leadership role in promoting needed public improvement issues. For more information about CCP, visit the organization's web site.
