A. Justin Poplin named President of the Intellectual Property Section of the Kansas Bar Association

OVERLAND PARK, KS (July 20, 2009) – Lathrop Gage attorney Justin Poplin has been named President of the Intellectual Property Section of the Kansas Bar Association. During his one-year term, Mr. Poplin will focus his efforts on designing and delivering highly expert education, training and information for IP lawyers through the continuing legal education (CLE) process.

The overall purpose of the KBA’s Intellectual Property Law Section is to plan and promote education programs; support and recommend legislation; distribute information through newsletters, bulletin boards, or other means of communication; and provide networking opportunities for intellectual property law practitioners. Approximately 80 IP attorneys from Kansas are involved in this section of the Kansas Bar.

A native of Lawrence, Kansas, Mr. Poplin is a 2004 graduate of the University of Georgia School of Law with a B.S. in mechanical engineering from the University of Kansas. He has been with Lathrop Gage since 2004 and focuses his practice on both transactional and litigated intellectual property matters. He has extensive knowledge of the patent laws and regulations and spends the majority of his time assisting clients with patent issues. Mr. Poplin also has experience managing intellectual property portfolios and counseling clients regarding trademark, copyright, licensing, trade secret, infringement avoidance and confidentiality issues.
