Clayton, St. Louis Offices Raise Money for Breast Cancer Awareness
The Clayton and St. Louis offices of Lathrop Gage last week raised money in support of breast cancer research by throwing a "Go Pink" event. The two offices did so in conjunction with Komen St. Louis' "Dine out for the Cure" program, where local restaurants donate a percentage of their revenue to cancer research.
As part of the offices' attorneys and staff "going pink," a lunch took place catered by a "Dine out for the Cure" participating restaurant. The offices also are having a month-long "Jeans Day" on Fridays, with the donations for the entire month going to Komen St. Louis and Gateway to Hope, a St. Louis organization that provides assistance to uninsured women who are afflicted with breast cancer.
To mark the occasion, attorneys and staff wore pink t-shirts, including 100% participation from the Clayton office. With 27 total attorneys in the firm's St. Louis and Clayton offices, Lathrop Gage is one of the 20 largest firms in the St. Louis region as counted by the St. Louis Business Journal's annual listing.
The St. Louis Affiliate of Komen for the Cure focuses its work on improving the lives of those facing breast cancer in the local community. It is the world's largest grassroots network fighting breast cancer. Through events like the Komen St. Louis Race for the Cure® and "Dine out for the Cure," the St. Louis Affiliate has invested over $10 million in community breast health programs in 18 counties in Missouri and Illinois. Up to 75 percent of net proceeds generated by the Affiliate stays in the St. Louis area. The remaining income goes to the national Susan G. Komen for the Cure Grants Program to fund research.
