Amy Brozenic Kimbrough Named a Kansas City Business Journal NextGen Leader

8/3/2018

Overland Park, KS (August 3, 2018) – The Kansas City Business Journal selected Lathrop Gage Partner Amy Brozenic Kimbrough as one of its NextGen Leaders of 2018. Each year the Kansas City Business Journal chooses 25 individuals considered rising stars within the local business community. The program aims to connect emerging area leaders and aid in building their knowledge and leadership aptitude. The Business Journal honored the 2018 NextGen Leaders at a luncheon on August 3.

Kimbrough’s leadership roles are multifaceted within and outside the firm. Practicing out of the Overland Park office, where she was recently named the new Partner in Charge, Kimbrough leads the firm’s Trademark/Copyright Transactional team and oversees all the group’s client matters, working with her colleagues among the firm’s nine nationwide offices. Beginning her legal career working for the United States Patent & Trademark Office in Washington, D.C., Kimbrough returned home to Kansas City with a passion to help contribute to the local startup community that was emerging in the area. She enjoys representing innovative startup and entrepreneurial clients that she sees as a secret weapon for the city’s welfare and remains committed to elevating Kansas City as one of the most entrepreneurial cities in the country. Kimbrough is also a member of the firm’s Diversity Professionals Network, which works to foster an environment of diversity and inclusion among all the firm’s attorneys and staff members. On a larger scale, Kimbrough is also currently serving a two-year term on the International Trademark Association’s Harmonization of Trademark Law and Practice Committee.

Kimbrough has also been allotted several noteworthy opportunities to further develop and exercise her leadership skills within the local business community. In 2017, she was selected to participate in the Greater Kansas City Chamber of Commerce’s Centurions Leadership Program. In 2014, Kimbrough was selected to participate in the Northeast Johnson County Chamber of Commerce Leadership Northeast program.

Kimbrough’s past honors include being named to Ingram’s Magazine’s “40 Under Forty” class of 2018, and to Missouri Lawyers Weekly’s Up & Coming Lawyers of 2015, whereby she secured the Law Firm Leader Award.

When asked by the Kansas City Business Journal where she will be five years from now, Kimbrough expressed that she hopes to still be passionately engaged in protecting her clients’ brands, being a champion community member of Kansas City and raising her two strong daughters to follow in her footsteps of community service.
