Wendi Alper-Pressman Receives St. Louis Business Journal Most Influential Business Women Award
St. Louis, MO (Aug. 10, 2018) – The St. Louis Business Journal selected Lathrop Gage Partner Wendi Alper-Pressman among its 2018 Most Influential Business Women. The awards recognize remarkable women who excel in careers in the business arena, and who illustrate the breadth of talent and achievement among St. Louis-area women. The St. Louis Business Journal celebrated the honorees at an awards luncheon on August 10.
Alper-Pressman is a co-leader of Lathrop Gage’s Bankruptcy, Restructuring and Creditors’ Rights practice and represents a variety of clients including banks, thrifts and other financial institutions, working with them on lending and other financial transactions, loan workouts and restructurings, forbearance agreements, foreclosures, bankruptcy proceedings, enforcement actions and other litigation. She also represents borrowers in complex financing transactions and purchasers of distressed assets both in and outside of the bankruptcy proceedings.
Throughout the course of her 30-plus year career, Alper-Pressman has represented numerous regional and national banks in litigation matters with many notable successes, including a career highlight that landed her before the United States Supreme Court, representing Hartford Insurance Company in a landmark bankruptcy case centering on whether a third-party creditor had standing to surcharge a lender’s collateral for benefits the lender received.
Alper-Pressman also Co-chairs Lathrop Gage’s Women’s Initiative Network, which sponsors and facilitates business and professional development activities to strengthen relationships between women at the firm and the firm’s female clients. In addition, she been involved with Legal Services of Eastern Missouri for nearly 25 years, where she has held a variety of leadership roles with the organization’s capital campaigns and fundraising efforts. She also serves on the Board of Directors of the Risk Management Association-St. Louis Chapter and is a member of the International Women’s Insolvency and Restructuring Confederation and the American Bankruptcy Institute.
Alper-Pressman’s honors include selection by Best Lawyers in the area of Bankruptcy and Creditor Debtor Rights/Insolvency and Reorganization Law (2018); named among Missouri & Kansas Super Lawyers (2012-2018) and selected by Super Lawyers among its “Top 50 Women in Missouri & Kansas” (2015-2016) and its “Top 50 in St. Louis” (2016). In addition, Alper-Pressman has held a Martindale-Hubbell “AV” Rating for the past 20 years, an industry ranking among peers who select attorneys demonstrating high ethical standards and professional ability.
