Corporate Controllers Unit Scam Targets Colorado Businesses

What Happened

Last week a letter was sent to corporations, Limited Liability Corporations, nonprofit corporations, Limited Partnerships, Limited Liability Partnerships and other businesses registered in the State of Colorado in an official-looking envelope from “Corporate Controllers Unit.”

The solicitation letter offered to file the businesses’ corporate annual reports with the Secretary of State’s office for a payment of $225. This letter implies that the Colorado Secretary of State’s office has increased the corporate report-filing fee from $10 to $225, which is not the case. Read more ...
