Mark A. Samsel

As a Kansas native and a graduate of both Kansas and Missouri academic institutions, Mark Samsel enjoys focusing his practice in the state and federal courts of those states, in addition to other matters across the country. His extensive experience with the local customs, history, laws, and rules of Kansas and Missouri allows Mr. Samsel to provide particularly distinctive, effective, and efficient representation for clients, whether big or small, or whether national, local, or somewhere between.

As both a zealous litigator and appellate practitioner, Mr. Samsel delivers client value from start to finish, advising and guiding his clients from the earliest signs of a dispute, through a successful early resolution when possible, and when not, through discovery, dispositive motions, trial, and the highest courts of appeal. Mr. Samsel advises clients in a number of business, commercial lease, construction, and employment disputes, as well as matters involving local government law, education, tort claims, and estates and trusts litigation.

In addition to several successful trial court decisions on dispositive motions and appellate court opinions, his recent experience includes favorable judgments following trials on the merits, specifically including:

  • 1st Chair, Jury Trial, commercial lease dispute involving breach of contract, fraud, and other allegations, Jackson County, Missouri;
  • 2nd Chair, Bench Trial, real estate dispute, Johnson County, Kansas;

  • 2nd Chair, Arbitration, commercial dispute involving construction and real estate contract, Kansas City, Missouri; and

  • 2nd Chair, Preliminary Injunction Hearing, employment dispute involving breach of contract and restrictive covenants, Kansas City, Kansas.

  • 2nd Chair, Bench Trial, commercial lease dispute, Kansas City, Kansas

Mark currently represents the fifth district as a Kansas State Representative and was elected and began serving his term in January of 2019. Outside of the office and the courtroom, Mr. Samsel enjoys being actively engaged in the community, including his involvement with the Kansas City Sports Commission & Foundation. He participates in a number of organizations and events to promote education and sports for area youth and high school students. In addition to advocating for clients, he also enjoys avidly supporting the Kansas City Royals, Sporting KC, the Kansas City Chiefs, and his alma maters, the Missouri Valley College Vikings and the Kansas Jayhawks.
