Jagamya Vijayaraghavan, Ph.D.
Jagamya Vijayaraghavan is a technical specialist a part of the firm's Intellectual Property team focusing her work efforts on the biotechnology and life sciences industry.
Prior to joining Lathrop Gage, Jagamya worked as a postdoctoral fellow at Harvard Medical School where she was involved in expression, purification, protein biochemistry and structural studies of human and bacterial membrane proteins. Jagamya has a very strong background in protein biochemistry, enzymology, structural biology and biophysics.
During her term as a graduate student, Jagamya’s thesis project focused on biochemistry, X-ray crystallography as well as small molecule in silico drug design for mammalian enzymes. She was awarded the NIH Cell and Molecular Biology Training Grant for structure elucidation of human soluble guanylate cyclase. Apart from mammalian enzymes, Jagamya also has an extensive background on structural biology and biochemistry of bacterial proteins. She has been involved in structural studies of both cytoplasmic and integral-membrane bacterial proteins. She has successfully crystallized and solved the structures of a number of bacterial proteins. These structures can now be used to treat bacterial infections and pathogenesis.
