John N. Mueller
John Mueller focuses his practice on real estate and tax credit financing. Mr. Mueller works with equity investors, developers, lenders and tax credit allocatees in a variety of real estate matters involving federal, state and local tax credits and incentives including new markets tax credits, historic rehabilitation tax credits, Opportunity Zones and low-income housing tax credits. He also advises clients on various real estate issues regarding the acquisition, development, and financing of commercial, senior, and multi-family residential property.
Prior to joining Lathrop Gage, John served as a Transaction Tax Associate at Ernst & Young, where he advised on U.S. federal income tax matters relating to mergers, acquisitions, and divestitures as well as conducted buy-side and sell-side tax diligence services for corporate and private equity companies. In addition, he served as an International Tax Consultant at Deloitte, where he prepared and reviewed domestic and international tax compliance obligations and served as a tax specialist on large multinational public and private audits. He is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA).
While attending the University of Missouri School of Law, John served as president of the Real Estate Law Society as well as vice president and founder of the Tax Law Society.
