Benjamin A. Vaughan, Ph.D.

Dr. Benjamin Vaughan is a registered Patent Agent with a Ph.D. in inorganic chemistry. His patent practice focuses on pharmaceutical and chemical arts, and he has specific expertise in industrial process chemistry.

Dr. Vaughan’s practice includes patent preparation and prosecution for large and small companies, as well as University clients and independent inventors focusing on pharmaceutical development, salt forms, prodrugs, polymorphs, metabolites, formulations, synthetic methods, drug delivery compositions, administration routes, combinations, dosing strategies, etc.

Dr. Vaughan also advises clients and manages patent filings in the areas of synthesis, catalysis, industrial chemistry, process chemistry, chemical process development, commodity chemicals, fuels, natural gas, petroleum derivatives, petrochemicals, agrochemicals, plastics, natural and artificial rubbers, polymers, fuel cell technology, biofuels, nutraceuticals, food products, materials science, and chemical engineering.

Prior to joining the firm, Dr. Vaughan performed his doctoral research at the University of Virginia, where his research focused on the development of transition-metal catalysts for the conversion of natural gas and petrochemicals to higher-value commodity chemicals, such as plastics and liquid fuels. Dr. Vaughan’s undergraduate research at the University of Vermont focused on the synthesis and characterization of phosphorus- and silicon-containing polymers and oligomers using early-metal catalysts.
