Robert J. Lambrechts, Ph.D.

Bob Lambrechts has filed nearly 800 patent applications in the United States, and over 400 patent applications in foreign jurisdictions. He has been an adjunct professor at the University of Missouri at Kansas City’s schools of law and engineering for over 30 years, and in his practice, he brings knowledge gained through a rich and varied background to help clients develop strategies for maximizing their patent portfolios.

Prior to joining the firm, Bob served as a senior automation engineer with the Allied Signal Corporation in Kansas City, Missouri. He also served with the U.S. EPA in the Region VII office as a special assistant to the Regional Administrator, and served 28 years as a Reserve Engineering Duty Officer in the United States Navy Reserve.

As an intellectual property lawyer, Bob has substantial experience in preparing patent applications for medical devices, safety equipment, machine tools, building components, environmental control systems and automation equipment. He is often called upon to provide clients with legal opinions on infringement issues and patent validity, and he assists clients with licensing of intellectual property and protecting their intellectual property rights.

In addition to his intellectual property work, Bob also has a strong environmental law practice, and especially enjoys working with environmental industry clients who seek seasoned guidance on their environmental and intellectual property issues. Overall, Bob’s wide ranging work experiences give him a deep understanding of client needs, and he works diligently to understand each company’s personnel, history, products, processes and markets. Bob often meets with and visits clients on his own time in order to gain an appreciation for research activities and production operations to ensure he understands and represents each client in a way that is consistent with its business strategy and core values.

Bob received his Ph.D. in engineering and geosciences and focused his research upon the analysis of patented direct air capture technology and the role of that technology in removing carbon from the atmosphere to attempt to reverse the adverse impacts of global warming.
