Lathrop Gage Welcomes Kansas Higher Education Leadership to Overland Park Event

8/19/2009

Kansas Gov. Mark Parkinson, University of Kansas Chancellor Bernadette Gray-Little and Kansas State University President Kirk Schulz will speak at the Overland Park Convention Center on Oct. 7, 2009, as part of the state's 2nd annual "Champions for Education Luncheon." In his capacity as Board Chair of the Community Foundation of Johnson County, Lathrop Gage attorney Lyle Pishny (Corporate & General Business - Overland Park) is helping organize this event, continuing many years of service to the community and a commitment to higher education in the state of Kansas.

As both university leaders are new to their respective positions this year, this luncheon will mark the first joint appearance for Ms. Gray-Little and Mr. Schulz, where they will present their visions for their institutions and the state of higher education in Kansas. Gov. Parkinson will serve as master of ceremonies for the occasion.

Mr. Pishny has been in practice for over 25 years and was the co-managing partner of the Bennett Lytle law firm which joined Lathrop Gage's Johnson County office in 1998. He has served as President of the Kansas Bar Association's Corporation, Banking and Business Law Section, and has been named a "Leading Lawyer" by Chambers USA, and has been included among The Best Lawyers in America. Mr. Pishny and his fellow board members are pleased that the Governor, President and Chancellor will address issues surrounding the importance of education to Johnson Countians and all of Kansas.
