James Jeffries Selected for “Leadership Springfield Class XXVI”


Leadership Springfield has identified the next class of area professionals to take part in its leadership program, and Lathrop Gage attorney James Jeffries (Intellectual Property - Springfield) will be one of those 32 leaders chosen from southwest Missouri to be part of this year's class. The group will begin with a retreat in September that will launch a nine-month program that increases their awareness of the challenges and opportunities within the Springfield, Mo., community.

A graduate of Missouri State University, Mr. Jeffries regularly represents clients in a variety of real estate and business matters, including real estate sale contract and lease negotiations and documentation, community improvement district formation, transportation development district formation, zoning and land use proceedings, planned developments, condominium creation, development agreement negotiations, business entity formation, drafting of corporate bylaws, resolutions, operating agreements and other corporate documents, and stock purchase agreements, asset purchase agreements, promissory notes, guarantees, and security agreements, among others.

Mr. Jeffries also practices in the intellectual property practice area. His experience includes prosecuting patent and trademark applications for software, industrial processing, electrical devices and materials processing; performing patent searches and drafting patentability opinions regarding software, industrial processing and electrical devices; drafting, reviewing and negotiating software licensing agreements, website development agreements, intellectual property license agreements, website terms of use and asset purchase agreements; and drafting legal memoranda regarding intellectual property law matters including patents, trademarks, trade secrets, state franchise law and contract law.
