Bernie Rhodes Speaks at Regional Symposia on Sports & Entertainment, Media Law
Lathrop Gage attorney Bernie Rhodes (Business Litigation - Kansas City) will be a featured speaker at two April conferences dedicated to his areas of practice. On April 9, he will take part in the Dr. Bob Frederick KU Sports & Entertainment Law Symposium at the University of Kansas. This series of discussions, titled "Live a Life That Matters," will examine legal and ethical issues in sports, entertainment and media law. On April 10, the Missouri College Media Association will meet at the University of Central Missouri's Lee's Summit Center. Mr. Rhodes will talk about student press and the law, including summaries of libel law, how to report campus crime, as well as access to public records and public meetings. 200 college journalists and their advisors from 30 Missouri colleges and universities are expected at this annual conference.
Mr. Rhodes has more than 20 years experience litigating complex business and commercial disputes throughout the United States. This includes extensive jury trial practice, appellate practice and, more recently, alternative dispute resolution. He is widely known in the Midwest for his depth of knowledge in all phases of media law and communications law for print, broadcast, cable and media.
Earlier this year Mr. Rhodes was selected as a finalist for the Lawdragon 500, the listing of the "Leading Lawyers in America." He is a frequent honoree in the Best Lawyers in America, and Missouri/Kansas Super Lawyers. In addition to practicing media law, Mr. Rhodes is also a member of the firm's Intellectual Property group. He is a graduate of Fordham University School of Law.
