Ingram’s Names Jack Craft a Kansas City Legend
Partner Jack Craft (Government Relations - Kansas City) was honored in the 35th anniversary edition of Ingram's magazine when the publication named him as a "Kansas City Legend" for his exemplary career in business. The class of 2009 Legends published in the January 2009 issue includes 21 men and women who serve as examples of the community's "outstanding business and civic and government leaders (who) understand the value of imposing demanding goals upon themselves to enhance their knowledge and grow as people."
"Jack Craft has left an indelible imprint on Kansas City through his work as a successful and influential lawyer," the publication says. "His 'work,' though, accounts for only a portion of the tremendous impact he has had on the city he refers to as 'a very handsome, very pleasant place to live.'"
Mr. Craft was the Vice Chair for the Bistate II Initiative and the Campaign Chairman and Treasurer of the Missouri Think Big Committee in 2004, a high-profile bi-state project. More recently he worked together with many organizations, including DST, the Internal Revenue Service and the Post Office, to negotiate the development of a new IRS Service Center in the former Main Post Office space in Kansas City, Missouri. To do that, he helped negotiate a process through which the GSA and the IRS were able to achieve Congressional authorization and approval for a long-term lease for the IRS Service Center. This allowed the Postal Service to find better use for an older facility, the IRS to open a new Service Center and relocate employees of the Post Office to Union Station.
Mr. Craft also represented the Alexander Company in the complex redevelopment of numerous Kansas City urban properties in connection with a $45 million redevelopment project, which includes the use of incentives through the Planned Industrial Expansion Authority, the Land Clearance for Redevelopment Authority, state and federal historic tax credits, Brownfields Remediation Grants, and affordable housing tax credits. He also serves as counsel to the Director of the Missouri Department of Insurance for receivership proceedings involving several Missouri-domiciled insolvent insurance companies.
