William "Jeff" Maloney Joins Lathrop Gage’s Banking Litigation team in Kansas City

Kansas City, Mo. (August 14, 2018) – Lathrop Gage is pleased to welcome William Jeffrey Maloney as Of Counsel in the firm’s Kansas City, Missouri office. He joins the Banking & Creditors Rights Litigation team and will focus his practice in the areas of Bankruptcy, Restructuring and Creditors Rights and Banking & Bankruptcy Litigation.

Maloney brings extensive experience representing debtors and creditors in bankruptcy cases, in foreclosures, receiverships, replevin and execution of judgments. He’s well-versed in defending and prosecuting mechanic’s lien claims and in non-bankruptcy loan enforcement actions and defense of counterclaims brought by borrowers. He has also represented landlords in commercial landlord-tenant disputes.

Maloney previously practiced for more than 15 years in the Kansas City, Missouri office of Bryan Cave LLP where his work focused primarily on restructuring, bankruptcy and creditor’s rights matters. He also handled some commercial litigation and natural resources and energy-related matters, advising oil and gas companies on bankruptcy related issues. Prior to joining Bryan Cave, Maloney worked as an Associate with two smaller Missouri-based firms.

Maloney received his Juris Doctor, with honors, from the University of Missouri – Kansas City School of Law, 1995. He received his B.A. in History from St. Cloud State University, in St. Cloud, Minnesota, 1991.
