Lathrop Gage Legislators Lead Senate Committees

Kansas City, Mo. (February 28, 2011) – Four Lathrop Gage attorneys serve as chair of Senate committees in Missouri and Kansas during the current legislative session.

In Missouri, Sen. Jack Goodman (Corporate – Springfield), R-Mt. Vernon, chairs the Senate Judiciary and Civil and Criminal Jurisprudence Committee. Sen. Kurt Schaefer (Environmental – Jefferson City), R-Columbia, is the Appropriations Committee Chair and also chairs the Joint Committee on Capital Improvements & Leases Oversight. Sen. Eric Schmitt (Business Litigation – Clayton), R-Glendale, serves as Chairman of the Jobs, Economic Development and Local Government Committee, is Vice Chair of the Senate Judiciary and Civil and Criminal Jurisprudence Committee, and was elected by his peers to a leadership position in the majority caucus.

In Kansas, Sen. John Vratil (Business Litigation – Overland Park), is Vice President of the Senate and serves as Vice Chair of two committees – Ways and Means and Education. He also is a member of the Judiciary Committee.

Sen. Goodman represents the 29th Senate District in the counties of Barry, Lawrence, McDonald, Ozark, Stone and Taney. He was elected to the House of Representatives in 2002 and to the Senate in 2005. Sen. Schaefer represents the counties of Boone and Randolph in the 19th Senate District in Columbia. He was elected to the Senate in 2008. Sen. Schmitt represents the 15th Senate District in St. Louis County and was elected in 2008. Sen. Vratil represents the 11th Senate District in Kansas and was elected in 1998.
