Lathrop Gage Wins Jury Verdict for Physicians Group

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (February 18, 2011) – Lathrop Gage attorneys Gary Cunningham (Tort – Springfield) and Joseph Reid (Tort/Business Litigation – Springfield) recently won a jury verdict on behalf of a local physicians group.

The two-week trial involved a medical malpractice case in Greene County, Missouri. The plaintiff claimed that during a December 2007 surgery, our client was negligent in not preventing him from aspirating during the induction and intubation phase, causing a severe pulmonary condition resulting in brain damage due to lack of oxygen. The plaintiff’s hospital and rehabilitation facility bills totaled more than $900,000 and he asked for total damages at trial in the range of $7-8 million. The jury deliberated more than seven hours and ultimately delivered a defense verdict.
