Firm Included in Roundup of Law Firms Weathering the Economic Storm

2/5/2010

For years, Kansas City’s largest law firms enjoyed year-to-year increases in revenue — 2009 changed that for some.

The recession and the slackening demand for legal services dropped revenue for four of the area’s eight largest firms, while others moved the needle up from 2008, though not much.

Stinson Morrison Hecker LLP had a 6 percent revenue decline, from $156.4 million in 2008 to $146 million last year.

Managing Partner Mark Foster said that through expense cuts and better collections, Stinson increased profits per partner to $493,000.

Sonnenschein Nath & Rosenthal LLP also had a slight revenue drop, going from $473 million in 2008 to $472.5 million, according to published reports. COO David Schadler could not be reached for comment.
