Lathrop & Gage Issues Important News for IP Owners in Paraguay

What Happened:
On Jan. 2, the General Customs Administration of Paraguay announced a new Registry of Trademarks and Intellectual Property Rights (including patents). The Paraguayan customs agency plans to check incoming products against this new registry to combat piracy and counterfeiting. The agency may refuse importation of unauthorized products or those bearing marks that do not match its ownership records.
The customs agency has an ambitious schedule for developing this registry: It will begin accepting applications on Jan. 15, 2008, with a final submission deadline of Jan. 31, 2008. Read more ...
