HROI - Human Resources Return on Investment

We understand that not all of your needs are limited strictly to legal matters. In fact, we have seen human resources emerge as a critical area – one that has become increasingly difficult to manage. Responding to clients’ needs is why we created HROI, LLC (Human Resources – Return on Investment). Founded in 2002, HROI is a value-added service providing practical solutions to your most formidable Human Resources-related challenges. No matter how complex or unexpected your particular issues are, you can rely on HROI as a highly qualified sounding board, a trusted business partner and a reliable decision-making tool.

Shelly Freeman, President & CEO of HROI, brings a unique combination of experience. She spent more than 10 years as a labor and employment trial attorney. She’s also been an HR director for a large company operating in many states. Unlike other HR consultants, advice you receive through HROI is still protected by attorney-client privilege, helping you protect your company’s most confidential matters.

Chari Young is of counsel with HROI, LLC. Ms. Young brings depth and breadth of experience to HROI, having started practice as a labor and employment lawyer in 1999, counseling and training employers on employment law issues, acting as defense counsel in lawsuits and administrative filings and in various other cases. She served as law clerk to the Honorable Carlos Murguia, United States District Court Judge, from 2003 to 2006.

An element that sets HROI apart from other providers is our commitment to training.  Although we do not believe it practical, or necessarily desirable, for managers and supervisors to have an HR practitioner's full command of all employment laws and HR principles, we do think that costly problems can be avoided or risks contained when those managers spot the issue and get help before they take the actions that might later be challenged.  Consequently, HROI was formed, in part, to develop cost-effective, understandable and useable training programs.  We help managers fully understand both the legal ramifications and practical strategies of hiring, evaluating, managing, compensating, motivating, developing, disciplining and discharging employees.  See below for HROI’s training modules.
