Joan Archer a Featured ABA Panelist on Adware, Spyware
Lathrop & Gage attorney Joan Archer (Intellectual Property - Kansas City) will be a featured speaker as part of the ABA teleconference "Behind-the-Scenes Trademark Use on the Internet: Keywords, Adware, Spyware, and More," on September 15, 2009, 12:00 - 1:00 PM CST. The presentation will be sponsored by the Section of Litigation, and will feature panelists from private practice who represent clients on the cutting edge of trademark issues related to new technology.
This year Ms. Archer was re-appointed Co-Chair of the Section's Expert Witness Committee, and was appointed to the Special Committee on Jury Innovations, which considers the juror experience, the decision-making process and jury management. She also serves as Co-Chair of the trademarks subcommittee of the Section's litigation committee. Ms. Archer has litigated intellectual property and business litigation matters, including trademark, patent, unfair competition, and copyright cases. Her practice also includes counseling clients on trademark and copyright matters, including prosecuting applications before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, and litigating trademark opposition and cancellation proceedings. Ms. Archer has substantial experience litigating trademark and trade dress cases, including those involving the Internet, domain names and black-market software. Her courtroom experience includes having first- or second-chaired over ten jury trials, bench trials and preliminary injunction.
