Experience
Mr. Zito manages Lathrop & Gage DC, PLLC in Washington, DC and supervises the firm's commercial receivables practice. Mr. Zito litigates complex commercial cases and assists as antitrust counsel on significant litigation and mergers.
Mr. Zito has particular expertise in federal and state government relations. He also has substantial experience in federal and state regulatory matters involving the Department of Justice, the Federal Trade Commission and State Attorney General Offices.
Mr. Zito was formerly a trial attorney at the Federal Trade Commission, where he prosecuted violations of the Federal Trade Commission Act, such as unfair methods of competition, monopolization and attempted monopolization matters. He has significant experience in cases involving claims of anticompetitive behavior in the enforcement of intellectual property rights.
Prior to the Federal Trade Commission, Mr. Zito was an Assistant Attorney General at the Missouri Attorney General's office where he developed extensive litigation, trial and appellate experience as lead counsel in over 30 trials, hearings, and appellate arguments, several involving highly-publicized litigation. Mr. Zito served as counsel to Missouri elected officials and state agencies, including the Secretary of State, the Supervisor of Liquor Control and the Real Estate Commission.
Mr. Zito is currently a Major in the Judge Advocate General's Corps, United States Army Reserves.
