Peter
Chen, Ph.D.
Experience
Dr. Chen joined Lathrop & Gage L.C. as a patent agent in 2002. His practice includes patent prosecution, litigation and client counseling on patent, trademark and copyright issues. His experience includes helping clients procure patents on subject matters such as new drug compositions, chemical synthesis, genetic engineering and medical instruments. Dr. Chen also advises clients on licensing and other intellectual property (IP) matters. He frequently counsels domestic and foreign companies on strategic IP planning in international business transactions. Dr. Chen was a guest speaker on "Intellectual Property and Global Trade" at the 2004 Sixth China Hi-Tech Fair in Shenzhen, China.
Prior to joining Lathrop & Gage, Dr. Chen was a research scientist in immunology at Columbia University. Dr. Chen's experience in medical and pharmaceutical research facilitates his understanding of complex scientific issues and client needs in the chemical, biotechnology, pharmaceutical and agricultural areas.
Dr. Chen is fluent in Mandarin Chinese and a Cantonese dialect.
