Margaret H. Richards
Margaret Richards is an associate in the environmental department at Lathrop & Gage. She has extensive experience defending energy clients in complex multi-party litigation including personal injury, wrongful death, property damage, and products liability resulting from rupture, leak, fire and explosion in state and federal courts. Ms. Richards’ experience includes managing cause and origin investigation and taking and defending depositions of experts and lay witnesses. She advises clients on adequacy of warning material, corporate recordkeeping and safety material, and customer communications and their impact on litigation risk. She has handled litigation in Alabama, Colorado, Connecticut, Georgia, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Tennessee, West Virginia, and Wisconsin.
Ms. Richards’ practice includes regulatory analysis for clients concerning the sale, transportation and distribution of natural gas, propane, and agricultural products and chemicals. She advises clients on complex federal and state laws, agency regulations and industry standards including the Pipeline Safety Act, Federal Hazardous Materials Transportation law, Occupational Safety and Health Act, (OSHA) Toxic Substances Control Act, (TSCA), the PCB Mega Rule, LP Gas Code and NFPA Standards.
