Marc L. Kuemmerlein
Marc Kuemmerlein has more than 27 years of diverse legal experience in business law, serving as counsel to executives at all levels. He has served as vice president and general counsel to the independent operating company of an international foods company with over $12 billion in revenues, vice president and associate general counsel to the largest agricultural cooperative in North America and vice president and general counsel to a national restaurant company headquartered in Kansas City. Mr. Kuemmerlein has a wealth of experience supporting corporate goals and the entrepreneurial spirit with timely, informed and efficient legal counsel.
In private practice with a prominent law firm and as general and corporate counsel, Mr. Kuemmerlein has handled a full range of issues relating to corporate finance and governance, mergers and acquisitions, regulatory compliance, governmental incentive packages, economic development programs, reorganizations, human resources, and corporate agreements, including joint ventures, strategic alliances, commercial leases, supply and sales agreements, confidentiality agreements and software service contracts. As general counsel, he managed a full spectrum of non-litigated and litigated disputes, enforcing the company’s rights, assertively presenting the company’s position and, when called for, negotiating favorable settlements.
As general and corporate counsel, Mr. Kuemmerlein managed corporate transactions in excess of $1 billion in the aggregate of value transferred and was instrumental in the negotiation of substantial insurance claims. His practice also has focused on intellectual property protection and portfolio management, particularly trademark enforcement in both domestic and international jurisdictions.
Mr. Kuemmerlein has presented in the in-house setting and conducted training on many areas of the law, including board governance, compliance, contract negotiation, trademark selection and the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act.
