John P. King

Mr. King is a partner in the real estate practice area. His practice is focused in the areas of land use zoning and planning, with special emphasis in the fields of residential and commercial development. Mr. King was appointed by the Governor to serve on the Missouri Ethics Commission, but has resigned due to laws which affect his zoning practice.

Representative cases include:

• Maryville Centre Office Park. Handled the zoning process for the new $400 million office park development. Vacated land owned by Maryville University and zoned from residential to office use.
• St. Louis Galleria. Represented its retail businesses and offices fronting the west side of Brentwood Boulevard in St. Louis. Removed all residential homes to accommodate parking and retail center. Mediated for the City of Richmond Heights and handled all negotiations between the city, the developer, the residential neighbors and the individual retail center owners. Did not use eminent domain to purchase any of the property.
• St. Anthony's Medical Center. Represented its $150 million addition of new offices, hospital beds, private rooms, parking, a pediatric emergency room and a helicopter pad. Faced neighborhood opposition for helicopter pad installation and negotiated requirements for parking. Handled the zoning for the addition of the pediatric emergency room, the DeGreef Hospice facility and a building which added additional private rooms for those requiring specialized care.
• Cingular Wireless. Represented the zoning and building of all Cingular Wireless' towers for the eastern half of Missouri. Started more than 20 years ago to build a system for zoning of Cingular Wireless' towers and negotiate tower locations and construction with surrounding neighbors and cities. Zoning model is now used for all Cingular Wireless' tower installations.
