Ian Hale
Mr. Hale focuses his national practice on the litigation, arbitration, mediation and negotiation of complex claims in the areas of insurance recovery, environmental liability, and state and federal civil rights.
Insurance Recovery—Mr. Hale represents and advises corporate and individual policyholders in policy analysis, claim development, charting, allocation, negotiations, mediations, arbitrations, coverage litigation and risk analysis. He has worked with agribusiness, waste management and manufacturing companies, state and local governments, as well as with individual policyholders, in disputes in a wide range of claims under involving environmental pollution liability policies, comprehensive general liability policies, D&O (directors and officers) policies, PO (public officials liability) policies, farm policies and LEL (law enforcement liability) policies.
Mr. Hale also dedicates a significant amount of time to insurance recovery and post-exoneration civil rights claims for wrongfully convicted individuals. He has helped obtain seven multimillion-dollar settlements for individuals across the United States, and currently has matters are pending in New York, Massachusetts, North Carolina and Mississippi. He also handles a variety of pro bono matters for the Innocence Project.
Mr. Hale has helped recover almost $50 million from insurers over the past four years.
Environmental Liability—Mr. Hale's experience also includes environmental law, and has represented global corporate defendants in high-dollar litigation and negotiation involving toxic tort, CERCLA, RCRA and Superfund matters.
