Mr. Setzler practices wealth strategies, tax and estate planning law.
Estate Planning. Mr. Setzler prepares estate plans for clients with estates ranging in size from several tens of thousands of dollars to several hundred million dollars. He prepares complex tax planning wills and revocable trusts, various irrevocable trusts, including life insurance trusts, dynasty trusts, and trusts for minors, generation skipping planning, charitable lead trusts, charitable remainder trusts, charitable foundations, durable powers of attorney, living wills, family limited partnerships and related documents, and assistance in transferring assets to fund various estate planning entities.
Trust and Estate Administration. Mr. Setzler handles the administration of trusts and estates in Missouri and Kansas, including all matters before the Probate Courts, preparation of estate tax returns, federal gift tax returns, fiduciary income tax returns, state death tax returns, and representation of clients in connection with audits of tax returns at the agent and appellate level, as well as representing guardianships and conservatorships.
General Representation of Businesses. Mr. Setzler represents a variety of small and family businesses, including automobile and truck dealerships, retail businesses, service businesses, restaurants and others.
