David C. Vogel
David C. Vogel specializes in employment defense work, and has spent the past decade defending some of the nation’s largest companies in litigation across the United States. Since joining Lathrop & Gage in 1996, David has obtained judgments in favor of clients in employment discrimination and similar lawsuits filed in Missouri, Kansas, Oklahoma, Illinois, Georgia, Louisiana, Florida, Wisconsin, Oregon, Texas and Nevada. He has obtained countless favorable findings against charges of discrimination filed with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission throughout the United States.
In addition, David has handled a number of federal jury trials, receiving multiple defense verdicts, and has successfully briefed and/or argued cases before the Fifth, Seventh, Eighth, Ninth, Tenth and Eleventh Circuits for the U.S. Court of Appeals.
David also counsels clients across the country on a daily basis with regard to employment matters. A former reporter for a daily newspaper, David also has represented local and national media outlets with regard to claims of defamation, open records access and related First Amendment matters.
David attended the University of Missouri-Columbia School of Law, where he graduated first in his class and was an editor on the Law Review staff. He currently chairs the firm’s labor & employment department and has served since 2006 as the chair of the firm’s recruiting committee.
