We represent clients in state and federal appellate courts at every level. We regularly appear in the state and federal appellate courts governing Missouri and Kansas, but also frequently appear in appellate courts throughout the United States. The firm includes multiple attorneys who clerked for judges in the state or federal appellate courts, and who focus primarily or exclusively on representing our clients on appeal.

The appellate practice of our lawyers spans the entire range of the firm's litigation practice - from environmental and utilities cases, to commercial, personal injury, and employment and civil rights litigation. We regularly handle both appeals from the trial courts, and various special appellate proceedings, such as original appellate proceedings to review administrative rulemakings or adjudications. We are experienced both at representing the parties themselves, and at representing amici curiae, such as trade organizations, with an interest in the issues raised on appeal. Our lawyers are also experienced in assuming responsibility for appeals in cases handled at the trial-court level by attorneys from outside the firm, giving a client a fresh perspective geared towards success in the distinct environment of an appellate court.
